Campbell Mattinson is the Sunday Magazine wine columnist and our King’s Vault Blogger

Campbell Mattinson is the SUNDAY Magazine wine columnist. He’s the co-author of annual guide to all your red wine needs, The Big Red Wine Book (Hardie Grant) and was the winner of the prestigious Wine Press Club Wine Communicator Award in both 2005 and 2007. He’s been the  publisher of The Wine Front (www.winefront.com.au) since 2002.

In 2006 Campbell released the book Wine Hunter: The Man Who Changed Australian Wine, a biography of the Hunter Valley winemaking legend Maurice O’Shea (published by Hachette Australia). The book was described by James Halliday as “”one of the most remarkable wine books to ever come my way”". Max Allen wrote in The Australian Magazine that “”this is the best book on wine to be published in Australia for many, many years”". He’s also published the book Why the French Hate US: The Real Story of Australian Wine.

In 1983 Campbell visited north-east Victoria for the first time – and instantly fell in love with it. It’s an easy place to fall in love with. He visited every year, many times per year, between 1983 and 2004 … when he bought a house there, and moved. “”Enough is enough already!”" he was heard to say at the time.
